Stroke recovery care at home in Cheshire
Who it suits: Someone home after a stroke, where the hospital support has ended but the recovery has not.
The hard part often starts once the hospital and the rehab team step back. Progress after a stroke is slow and uneven, and it happens at home rather than in an appointment.
Our carers help with the daily things a stroke has made difficult — washing, dressing, meals, moving about safely — and they do it at a pace that does not make somebody feel rushed or watched.
Where speech has been affected, the biggest thing we offer is unhurried company from somebody who is not embarrassed by a pause. We are not therapists, and we do not pretend to be. What we do is keep the routine going between the appointments, encourage the exercises somebody else has set, and tell you what we are seeing.

What we help with
- Help with washing and dressing that works around weakness on one side
- Support with eating and drinking, taken at the right pace
- Encouragement with the exercises the therapist has set
- Company and conversation, which matters more than families expect
- A regular pair of eyes on how things are actually going

What drives the cost, and who might payQuestions we get asked
- How soon after a stroke can you start?
- As soon as somebody is home and it is safe to do so. Ruth will come out, see the house and talk it through before anything begins — there is no charge for that visit.
- Can you help with the physio exercises?
- We can encourage and support the exercises a physiotherapist has already set, and remind somebody to do them. We do not set them ourselves — that stays with the therapy team.
Where we provide stroke support
Start with a free visit, not a commitment
We come out, meet you at home and talk through what would actually help. There is no charge for the visit and no obligation at the end of it.
