Privacy notice

The enquiry form asks for your name, phone number, an optional email address, who the care is for, and whatever you choose to write in the message box.

Information about someone's health is what UK GDPR calls special category data, and it carries extra protection. Care enquiries naturally involve it.

That's why the enquiry form asks you not to put medical details about another person in the message box. It isn't that we don't need to know — it's that a web form is the wrong place to start. We'll go through all of it properly and confidentially when we speak, and record it in the care plan where it belongs.

Where we do process health information, we rely on Article 9(2)(h) of the UK GDPR — processing necessary for the provision of health or social care.

For enquiries, our lawful basis is your consent — the tick box on the form — and our legitimate interest in responding to someone who has asked us to.

Once we're providing care, our basis is the contract between us, along with our legal obligations as a provider registered with the Care Quality Commission.

Enquiries go to Ruth directly. Only the people who need to see your information in order to arrange or deliver care will see it.

We use Resend to deliver form submissions by email, and Vercel to host this website. Both process data on our behalf under contract. We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it for marketing.

We may share information with health and social care professionals where that is necessary for someone's care or safety, or where the law requires it.

If you enquire and we don't end up providing care, we keep what you sent us only for as long as we might reasonably need it to follow up, and then delete it.

Where we do provide care, we keep the care record for as long as we are required to as a provider registered with the Care Quality Commission, and no longer. That period is set by our record-keeping obligations rather than chosen by us — if you would like to know exactly how long your own records will be held, ask and we will tell you.

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it's wrong, ask us to delete it, or object to how we're using it. Where we rely on your consent you can withdraw it at any time.

Ask by ringing the office or emailing us. We'll respond within a month.

Brighter Days Companions Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller, and with the Care Quality Commission as a care provider. The ICO registration number is at the foot of this page.
