Brighter Days Companions was started in 2020 by Ruth Amoore with one simple idea: that care works far better when it is the same person each time.
Our carers
Everyone who visits you is employed, trained, DBS checked and insured, and matched to you deliberately, not allocated by whoever is free.
All our carers are local, and chosen for their passion and commitment to care work. Most have ten years or more experience in home care. Everyone is DBS checked, insured and holds a full driving licence.
We match each client with one or two regular carers and keep it that way wherever we possibly can. Clients and carers get to know each other properly, which is what turns a visit into something looked forward to rather than tolerated.
We won't pretend it is never broken. Holidays, illness and emergencies happen to carers too. When they do, we tell you in advance who is coming instead rather than sending a stranger unannounced.

During a recent visit with our client, she spoke extremely positively about the care staff who support her. She advised they were brilliant and looked forward to them coming. She looked extremely well in herself and appeared to be in good spirits. The family also praised the carers, and felt they were doing a brilliant job.
Our experience is that Ruth and the team at Brighter Days have been consistently responsive and communicative and worked effectively alongside our team demonstrating professionalism and a collaborative approach in coordinating care arrangements.
Regulation
Two different bodies, doing two different things. Here is what each one actually means.
The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. A provider delivering personal care must be registered with them, and we have been since 17 March 2022.
The CQC assessed us between 17 June 2026 and 23 July 2026 and rated us Good overall, and Good in all five areas it looks at. The report was published on 9 September 2026.
PAMMS stands for Provider Assessment and Market Management Solution. It is a quality assessment carried out by the local council, separate from the CQC, and nothing to do with it.
Councils use it to assess providers they may commission care from. It looks at care delivery, staffing, management and feedback from people using the service.
Brighter Days was rated Excellent by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
