Brighter Days Companions was started in 2020 by Ruth Amoore with one simple idea: that care works far better when it is the same person each time.

Everyone who visits you is employed, trained, DBS checked and insured — and matched to you deliberately, not allocated by whoever is free.

How we recruit

All our carers are local, and chosen for their passion and commitment to care work. Most have ten years or more experience in home care. Everyone is DBS checked, insured and holds a full driving licence.

How we match

We match each client with one or two regular carers and keep it that way wherever we possibly can. Clients and carers get to know each other properly, which is what turns a visit into something looked forward to rather than tolerated.

We won't pretend it is never broken. Holidays, illness and emergencies happen to carers too. When they do, we tell you in advance who is coming instead rather than sending a stranger unannounced.

Regulation

Who checks up on us

Two different bodies, doing two different things. Here is what each one actually means.

CQC registered

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. A provider delivering personal care must be registered with them, and registration means meeting their requirements on safety, staffing and management.

Brighter Days Companions has been registered since 17 March 2022.

We have not been inspected yet. The CQC has registered the service but has not carried out an inspection, so there is no rating to report — not a good one and not a bad one. Anyone in this sector claiming to be “CQC approved” or “CQC rated” without a published inspection is overstating it, and we are not going to.

PAMMS rated Excellent

PAMMS stands for Provider Assessment and Market Management Solution. It is a quality assessment carried out by the local council — separate from the CQC, and nothing to do with it.

Councils use it to assess providers they may commission care from. It looks at care delivery, staffing, management and feedback from people using the service.

Brighter Days was rated Excellent by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
