End of life care at home in Cheshire
Who it suits: A family who want their relative to stay at home, and need help to make that possible.
Most people say they would rather be at home at the end. Whether that is possible usually comes down to whether there is enough support around the family to manage it.
This is work Ruth's team have done for a long time without ever saying so on the website. It asks for calm more than anything else, and for people who are not frightened of the situation and do not need to fill the silence.
The clinical side belongs to the district nurses, the GP and the hospice or palliative care team. We are registered for personal care, and what we bring is presence, familiarity and the practical help that lets a family stop being carers for a few hours and go back to being a daughter or a husband.

Visits start at 30 minutes — we don't impose a one-hour minimum. Every package is quoted in writing after a free assessment.

Questions we get asked
- Can you increase the care quickly if things change?
- Yes. There is no minimum term and no notice period, and this is exactly the situation that flexibility exists for. Ring Ruth and she will sort it.
- Do you work with the hospice and district nurses?
- Always. They lead on the clinical care and the medication; we handle the personal care, the company and the practical side, and we keep them informed of what we are seeing.
- Is this nursing care?
- No. Brighter Days is registered with the CQC for personal care rather than nursing, so anything clinical stays with the district nursing and palliative care teams. We are there for everything around that.
